History

The EKS was founded in September 2022 by former Buckmore Park employee Luke Battersby.

Luke founded the series immediately after leaving his job at Buckmore Park after 6 years of employment and Luke has run the EKS as his full-time job ever since.

Luke already had experience of co-running a sim racing league for 2 years prior to launching the EKS and Luke created the series after harbouring ambitions for many years of launching his own karting series.

Logo

The EKS has utilised the same logo since its creation and the logo was created by Luke Battersby in Adobe Photoshop. Initially red, the logo quickly changed to being the now iconic yellow and the full name of the series was added to the tail of the S.

The logo’s design drew inspiration from the Sodi World Series logo, a competition which Luke raced in as a youngster. After finished second in the 2011 Junior World Rankings, Luke represented Buckmore Park at the 2014 Sodi World Finals in Le Mans, France with the highlight being his P3 finish in the rain-soaked Junior Cup Race 3.

Soon after launching the series Luke swiftly organised the Inaugural Event at Buckmore Park. This event saw a lineup of friends and friends of friends invited to take part in what was designed as a test event for the series.

20 drivers took part in the event with the opening race won by Callum Bendelow who has since gone on to take part in more EKS events than anyone else.

The event was won overall by series founder Luke Battersby in the Lightweight class and 2-time Kart Race of Champions champion Mark Puxty in the Heavyweight class.

24 drivers took part in the event with the drivers split up in alphabetical order into two groups of 8 Lightweight drivers and 4 Heavyweight drivers.

Abi Sanders became the first female race winner in the EKS as she won Group 2 - Race 1 but it was reigning Tamworth DMAX SuperChamps Champion Dillon Davis who dominated the event in the Lightweight class to win all three races and win outright.

Reigning Sandown Park DMAX SuperChamps Champion Matthew Boulton meanwhile made amends for his struggles in the Inaugural Event to dominate the Heavyweight class as he won all three of his races in class and won outright.
