Weight Classes

The Elite Karting Series consists of 2 weight classes: Lightweights (75kg) and Heavyweights (90kg). We also run a Superheavyweight sub-class for Heavyweight drivers who weigh over 100kg.

Weighing up to the weight class above your natural weight is heavily encouraged, with ballast available to use free of charge to assist with this. Any driver weighing less than 75kg should race in the Lightweight class, and any driver weighing more than 75kg should race in the Heavyweight class.

Ballast Limits

The Daytona Milton Keynes and Daytona Sandown Park Birel DMAX karts have weight posts next to the drivers seat, as pictured, where up to 16kg of Daytona-provided ballast can be fitted.

The Daytona Tamworth DMAX-GT karts have weight boxes built into their left sidepod, where up to 22.5kg of Daytona-provided can be inserted. Adding this much ballast however is ill-advised as it will make for very uneven weight distribution and an unbalanced kart.

Other Weighting Methods

Weighted seat inserts are permitted at all circuits - if you would like to create your own weighted seat insert, please be aware that all Daytona DMAX karts have Tillett XL seats fitted. We are also currently in the process of creating of our weighted seat inserts which we will be able to provide for free in the future.

Weight vests, ankle weights and wrist weights, along with all other forms of body-worn ballast, are prohibited at all Daytona circuits for safety reasons.
